Royal Palace of Madrid; Home of the King of Spain ranging from King Carlos III to King Alfonso XIII is now open to the public. Palace in the city of Madrid is one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe. Mohammed I ordered to build a fortress in Magerit, long before Madrid became the capital of Spain. The fort was intended to protect Toledo, against the Christians. On Christmas Eve 1734, a fire devastated the fortress and its castle.

King Philip V finally rebuild the palace, which until now called the Palacio Real, or Royal Palace of Madrid. Construction of the building is composed of limestone and granite are fireproof. The construction lasted from 1738 – 1764. It is estimated that in an area of 135,000 m2, there are 2,000 luxury rooms and 50 of them can be visited by tourists.

Royal Palace of Madrid is adapting the architectural style of the Palace of Versailles. The inside of the palace decorated with Spanish marble, mahogany doors, until fresco (painting on the roof of the works of the best artists such as Giaquinto and Tiepolo). At the court, we can also visit the “museum of weapons” which showcased a variety of weapons and munitions used by the King of Spain since the 13th century. In addition, there is also a room displaying pharmaceutical drug storage cabinet, medicine bottles, and prescription drugs for the royal family. Today, the Royal Palace of Madrid is still used for formal occasions such as royal hospitality treatment and a national day of the event when the royal family met with important figures of Spain.

The price of admission to the Royal Palace of Madrid amounted to € 10.00, but every Monday – Thursday there is free entry hours at 2 hours before closing time. The palace is open from 10:00 am – 20:00 pm throughout the month of April to September, while in October-March operating hours begin at 10.00 am – 18.00 pm. Every Wednesday at 11:00 am, changing of the guard ceremony was held.

To reach this place, you can take the subway 5 and 2 to the station Opera. During a tour in Madrid, you can stay at the Pozuelo Hotel, NH Balboa Hotel or Ciudad de Parla Hotel. Some other interesting destinations are the Puerta del Sol, Madrid’s Retiro Park and the Cathedral.
