The name Alif itself comes from a stone that stands tall in the middle of the sea, which resembles the letters hijaiyah alif in Arabic script.

The mosque which was built in 2007 is located in downtown Natuna Island, Ranai City. The design and architecture of this mosque is rich in Islamic philosophical values. Even touted as the grandest mosque in the Riau Islands. Uniquely, the Great Natuna Mosque is also touted as Indonesia’s Taj Mahal.
