Trafalgar Square is one of the open spaces in the heart of London. There you can see a wide range of activities. The place is a favorite place for British people to gather. Trafalgar Square is managed by the Greater London Authority. The location is located in the southeast of central London. The open space can be enjoyed by the whole of British society and the tourists. There is also often used for various activities, such as special events and celebrations such as royal weddings, the opening of the Olympic Games, St Patrick’s Day and Chinese New Year. If you are lucky there are also often held a festival of film and photography, even rallies and demonstrations are also often performed there.

Throughout the 1800’s made some changes to the shape of the garden and some additional ornaments. Work began at the National Gallery in 1832 based on a design by architect William Wilkins. Then, in 1838, Sir Charles Barry, the architect of the Palace of Westminster also proposed a plan to develop Trafalgar Square. Proposal Barry is a balcony next to the National Gallery including Nelson memorial statues and two fountains.

On July 2, 2003, Trafalgar Square was officially re-opened by the Mayor of London. Pedestrians can now enjoy the center of Trafalgar Square to the National Gallery. The changes also include a cafe, public toilets and a lift for disabled access.

Trafalgar Square is a place that has an historical value. There are monuments and beautiful statues. Since its construction in the early 1800’s, Trafalgar Square has become the center of national democracy. Protests and demonstrations are often held on weekends. Uniquely, the mayor of London to support these activities, even provide access to the center of Trafalgar Square. It was also an attraction for tourists.

If you want to enjoy the hustle of Trafalgar Square, the place is located in Westminster, Greater London WC2N 5DN. To reach this place, you can use public transportation such as tube and buses. Charing Cross station with Bakerloo and Northern Airport is the nearest tube station from Trafalgar Square. You can also use the bus route 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 23, 24, 53, 77A, 88, 91, 139, 159, 176, 453 right through Trafalgar Square.
