Schloss Nymphenburg or Nymphenburg Palace was built as a summer retreat for the Duke of Bavaria. This baroque-style palace can quench the thirst for admirers of luxury paced life of a noble family. Duke of Bavaria, Ferdinand Maria, ordered the Italian architect Agostino Barelli to build Nymphenburg Palace as a form of reward for the birth of his son, Maximilian Emanuel. Duke made the place as a summer retreat and stayed with the empress and the mother of his child, Henriette Adelaide of Savoy. But the authenticity of Nymphenburg Palace did not last long after all five generations of the royal family to revamp and the addition of a room.

Some refurbishment is done, among others, includes the addition of pavilions connected to a gallery room. The exterior of the palace was redesigned to adapt the style of the French court. Some rooms still retained its authenticity baroque, most of the rooms are designed in the style of rococo and neo-classical. When visiting Nymphenburg Palace, feels like walking in the hallway of time. Each of the royal family seen clearly left its mark on the architecture of the luxurious palace. Do not miss the Amalienburg, a hunting lodge decorated with crystal and gold wrapping. In it there is also Spiegelsaal room (Mirror Hall), a room surrounded by windows and filled with carvings and gold-clad walls.

The grandeur of the building of Nymphenburg Palace in harmony with the garden. Beautiful garden measuring 200 hectares was built behind the palace. Nymphenburg park decorated with vast lakes, waterfalls and canals are popular as a place to feed the swans and ice skating in the winter. The best time to enjoy this park when there is a lot of visitors, namely the morning or an hour before the closing hours of operation. It was the best time to enjoy the beauty of the lotus flower while listening to the frogs singing in the distance.

Nymphenburg Palace is open daily to visitors from 09.00 am – 18.00 pm from April to October 15, and 10:00 am – 16:00 pm on October 16 to March. While the Nymphenburg park, opened at 06:00 am – 21:30 pm in summer and 06:30 am – 17:30 pm in the winter.

To reach this place, you can use the U1 or U7 to Rotkreuzplatz then walk as far as 2 km. Can also use tram 17 from Karlplatz, then stop at Schloss Nymphenburg and continue walking for 10 minutes.
