Grand Canyon is a canyon cliff in northern Arizona, USA, the results of carved over millions of years by the Colorado River. The awesomeness of nature formed beauty steep bluff along the 446 km with a width from 6 to 29 km with a depth of over 1,600 meters. Most of the Grand Canyon is a National Park. In 1908, the President of the United States 26th, Theodore Roosevelt, establishing and formalizing the Grand Canyon as the first National Park in the United States.

To achieve one of the attractions that must be visited by the travelers, we can drive out of Las Vegas for approximately 2.5 hours. We can take a minivan from Las Vegas, then move on to a bus to reach the Grand Canyon. After approximately 40 minutes, then we can get to the starting point west rim of the Grand Canyon. From the starting point, we can immediately catch the shuttle bus to get around in the area west rim, among others to the Hualapai Ranch. Hualapai Tribe is one of the Indian tribes that inhabited this location. Native Americans have also become a tourism manager in west rim. Here we can try to be a cowboy, like a sleigh ride, learn to throw a rope, tomahawk throwing and so forth. You also can stay in their cabins.

Besides direct around by shuttle bus, at the west rim starting point, travelers can also enjoy a helicopter ride package and boating on the Colorado River at a cost of around 200 US dollars. One helicopter can carry six passengers, with the formation of four passengers in the rear, and two passengers seated beside the pilot. Well, for approximately 8 minutes we can enjoy the view of the Grand Canyon by hovering over and between the walls of the red rocks.

Then, the helicopter will land near the Colorado River. It’s time to enjoy the beauty of the Grand Canyon of the river that divides the Grand Canyon for 2,000 million years and shape it until now. The motor boat will go and down the Colorado River. This motor boat brought the group of about 100 meters from the boat departure pier. Passengers are also welcome to take pictures with the background on the steep wall of the Grand Canyon. Return to the starting point, we boarded the shuttle bus and started walking around enjoying the scenery by land. The bus driver who doubles guides, explain various things about the Grand Canyon. According to him one of the most interesting spots on the west rim is eagle point. At this location, we can see the cliff walls that resemble the figure of an eagle. And indeed, we see the natural beauty that creates the figure of an eagle that was stretching its wings.

He also mentioned, the most spectacular on the west rim is the Skywalk, a suspension bridge in the form of a horseshoe, with the walls and floor are made of glass. On the Skywalk that operate in March 2009, he said that as “where people can fly like an eagle”. Curious?

For that, we have to spend 30 dollars. Before walking on the bridge, you are required to wear some sort of plastic shoes to coat footwear. This is to protect the glass floor. And another thing, you were not allowed to take photos during at this bridge. It is also as one of the forms to keep the bridge in case the camera or other objects falling. Therefore, all of the goods that are considered dangerous, from backpacks, cameras, and even cell phones should be kept in lockers.

To capture the moment on the bridge, which cost 30 million US dollars, the manager provides a special photographer. Later we had to make one of a printed photo of 30 dollars again, or pay 80 US dollars so we get our photos are stored in a flash.

The Skywalk floor structure is “only” 5-layer glass with a thickness of 8 cm.
