New York has many heritage buildings still preserved up in the contemporary era. For the citizens of New York, the city-owned heritage buildings which should be protected and maintained until any time because it is a city of culture and identity. Among the many such relics, one of which is The Empire State Building is a skyscraper. This building is located in the center of Manhattan, precisely at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street.
Roof elevation reaches 1,250 feet or 380 meters, plus the antenna tower which rises so that height total of about 1,454 feet (443 meters). The name of the building is based on the nickname of New York itself the “Empire State”. To note that this building was once the tallest building in the world for about 40 years in a row, from start to finish was built in 1931 until the end there that compete with that of the World Trade Center North Tower.

Even in 1986 this building has been designated a National Historic Landmark. While in 2007, this building is also included being ranked number one in AIA which is a list of America’s favorite architecture.
The Empire State Building is owned by Athony Malkin, who served as CEO of Empire State Realty Trust as a holding company that houses the establishment of this building. In 2010, the building was renovated at a cost that is fantastic which is $ 120 million. The funds are disbursed to alter the function of the buildings to be more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. It is very important to realize the vision of saving the world with friendly to the environment.
About its design, The Empire State Building was designed by William F Lamb from the architectural firm Shreve, Lamb and Harmon. F Lamb designing this building drawings in just two weeks. It is undeniable that the building design inspiration is derived from the Reynolds Building in North Carolina and the Carew Tower in Cincinnati Ohio. So every year the staff at The Empire State Building has always sends congratulations to the Reynolds Building because it is considered a precursor of the Empire State Building.
Excavation for the foundation of the building started on January 22, 1930, of which construction is carried out on March 17, 1930. To be noted that at the beginning of the construction of this building, the United States was hit by the economic crisis insanely called The Great Economic Depression that of course have an impact on the financial difficulties of the country. Luckily, the building construction project could continue despite the economic storm was the strongest hit.
