Do you remember the movie “Pearl Harbor” produced in 2001 by Touchstone Pictures? The film, starring Ben Affleck, Alec Baldwin and Kate Beckinsale illustrate how the shocking Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. These events really happened and was never forgotten by the people of the United States.

In the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 it recorded 2,390 people died, 1,177 of which are buried in Arizona. For the sake of commemorating and remembering the services of the hero, then came the idea to create a memorial. Initially USS Arizona Memorial as only a flagpole commanded by Admiral Arthur Radford in 1950. The full building as we can see today was completed in 1961, when America was under the administration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

There are three main parts of this memorial. The first is the assembly room and then there is the main room which is used to honor and ceremony. The latter is a prayer room where there are the names of the heroes who died in the fighting. Their names chiseled into a marble wall. The USS Arizona Memorial was designed by the Austrian-born architect Alfred Preis. The US Navy insists from the outset that the construction of this memorial site to be like a ship floating in the water. For a close look at the visitor must pass through the bridge. The building area can accommodate at least 200 people.
