Almost without a Motorized Vehicle

The island of La Digue is only 10.08 km2 wide and the original population is only 2,800 people. Once landing from the port, we will see bicycle rentals everywhere. Residents and tourists biking to and fro. La Digue is an island that is almost without a motorized vehicle. You say that because the car is only owned by resorts, hotels and travel agents. If you’re lucky, we can see a train pulled by cows.

The most photographed beach in the world

That is the nickname for Anse Source d’Argent Beach on La Digue Island. This beach is on L’Union Estate. Entrance ticket SR 115. The unique character of this beach is the giant granite boulders. This beach is often a location for shooting and filming locations.

Anse Source d’Argent has white sand as soft as flour. The water is clear and calm. Large granite boulders. There are granite stones which are stacked as unique as challenging gravity. There is even a monolith that is as big as a hill. How big!

Have a Giant Turtle

Giant tortoises aren’t just in the Galapagos, Ecuador. Giant tortoises also exist in the Seychelles with the Latin name Aldabrachelys gigantea hololissa. There is one place at L’Union Estate where this giant turtle lives. There is a dividing wall so that tourists do not enter the area. But we can give him food from a pile of leaves and vegetables prepared by the ranger. This turtle is as big as a karts, weighing up to 300 kg and its age can reach 100 years. What a magical turtle!

Unique Vanilla Tree

Everyone knows vanilla as an ice cream flavor. But who knows vanilla trees? Well, L’Union Estate is a vanilla plantation (Vanilla planifolia). Since the British colonial period, Seychelles planted vanilla, as did neighboring Madagascar. At L’Union Estate we can see the vanilla tree which is still a family of orchids. The fruit is long like peas. In addition, this plantation also processes copra coconut.

Those are the four uniqueness of La Digue Island in Seychelles. No wonder foreign tourists, especially from Europe since decades ago dreamed of a vacation to this island. When are you going there?
