Geographically, Corfu Island is located in the northernmost part of the Lonina Beach islands, Greece. The island itself is located right on the edge of the Adriatic Coast, very close to the Greek and Albanian parent countries. The island with an area of 592 square kilometers and a population of more than 35,000 inhabitants have a history that is full of battle and conquest.

The legacy of the struggle is seen in the form of a fortress, the church is also a palace or castle as a refuge. In 2007, the island of Corfu Island was crowned as a world heritage island called “kastropolis” or castle town. One of the legacies that is also a popular tourist destination on Corfu is Paleokatristka, an Orthodox church that looks like a castle, located 25 miles from the center of Corfu City.

This church is on a cliff and is one of the witnesses of the Corfu war. Although small, Paleokatritska is styled in a very neat, tiny garden with colorful flowers welcomed on the terrace. The interior of the church was very artistic. Besides Paleokatritska, another tourist destination on Corfu is Kanoni. It is on a hill and we can see the landscape of Corfu from a height. In Kanoni there are also cafes and restaurants. If you want to stay longer on Corfu, in Kanoni there are also hotels and inns.

From Kanoni, we can see that as a whole, Corfu Island is a very complete island, beautiful hills, a stunning sea of turquoise blue and historical building architecture. In the past, the residents of Corfu were seafarers as well as the residents of Venice, Italy. But when Corfu was attacked and pushed down by Turkey, they rose to the mainland and built defensive strongholds and also cultivated as an effort to preserve life.

The dominant commodity from Corfu is olives. Olive and its processed products, fill the markets in Greece. Starting from the fruit which is used as the basis for making salads, then there are also various toiletries such as soap, body moisturizer, and olive oil.

Shortly thereafter, Corfu fell under British rule after the Napoleonic Wars. Corfu was finally handed over by the British Empire along with the remaining islands in the Ionian Islands, and unification with modern Greece. This agreement was concluded in 1864 under the London Treaty.

After Paleokatritska and Kanoni, the tourists usually visit the city center. The center of Corfu Island is densely populated and is a business center. Corfu can be called more cosmopolitan than the capitals of Greece, Athens, and Olympia. The buildings contained a mixture of influences from previous invaders, Venice and England. British influence is also very strong on the architecture of the church.
